Our Background

* Comprised of former local government officials, certified appraisers, and state practice leaders from the world’s largest tax accounting firms, PTAG was established to assist owners of commercial real estate and personal property exclusively for the Florida marketplace.

* PTAG’s managing partners Jeff Nelson and Tim Hart initially developed their valuation skills working for the Palm Beach County Appraiser’s Office where they held titles such as Chief Appraiser – Commercial Department, were expert witnesses at VAB hearings, helped develop county appraisers’ valuation systems and state property tax laws which remain in place today. They both assessed 100% of Palm Beach County’s commercial real estate.

Jeff and Tim moved from the PBCAO  to manage the entire state of Florida property tax practice for Deloitte Tax LLP, PTS (who sold their national property tax practice in 2007 and through subsequent mergers/acquisitions is now owned and operated by Ryan.)

* In July of 2002, US legislation (SOX) was enacted to strictly regulate corporate transparency. Audit firms were required to separate their conflicting engagements and reassign services. This turn created an opportunity for Jeff to start his own practice, retain a portion of his clients free of conflict and manage the Florida portion for several national portfolios.  PTAG was born out of necessity.

*PTAG principal partners’ public experience and intimate knowledge of the appraisal methods local government officials prefer are buoyed by understanding our clients’ entitlements. Their entire professional careers have taken place within the property tax industry and more qualified professionals do not exist within Florida’s marketplace.
